🔧 Installation & Operating Guidelines

  1. Wash the filtration sand thoroughly before initial installation to remove fine particles.
  2. Install the media over a properly graded support gravel bed.
  3. Select the appropriate mesh size based on the filtration requirement and system design.
  4. Maintain the recommended bed depth for optimum filtration efficiency.
  5. Perform periodic backwashing to remove accumulated suspended solids and restore filtration performance.
  6. Avoid excessive filtration velocities that may disturb the media bed.
  7. Inspect the media periodically and replace it when excessive wear or channeling is observed.

Water Filtration Sand removes impurities through mechanical depth filtration. As raw water flows through the sand bed, suspended solids, silt, rust particles, and other insoluble contaminants become trapped within the spaces between the sand granules. Clean water continues to flow through the filter while the contaminants remain within the media bed.

As contaminants accumulate, the pressure drop across the filter gradually increases. Periodic backwashing expands the media bed and flushes out the trapped impurities, restoring filtration efficiency and extending the operational life of the media.
